a music lover, an analysis addict, and a person who can never shut up — combining these forces, i decided to spend my time pursuing a conversation with some artists
growing up, art has always played a major role in my day to day life — that being all mediums stretched across a vast variety of different genres and styles made by different types of people. raised in brooklyn, i was exposed to a cornucopia of cultures, people, and the traditions they carried with them. i indulged in them heavily, learning to connect through the distinct traits everyone carried. music was the main thing that bonded me and some of the best people i know, regardless of our background or what languages we spoke at home. the art we shared taught us about one another, but also brought us together regardless of who we were. you can learn a lot about a person depending on what they’re indulging in.
my taste has just continued to grow as i met more people. a conversation, a deep dive into one another’s niches, introduces a whole other world to look into — art ive never heard of, melodies i’ve never grasped, movies i rewatch once a month to feel something familiar, words that stay and sting for years to come. they have all left marks on me that ive carried. and my yearning for knowledge became insatiable.
i spend a lot of my time reading about creativity, learning specific details about the greats, deep diving into their backgrounds, sometimes taking a trip out to sit on the street they sang about or painted. i adore history, human development, the psyche, and studying change. i love when people leave pieces of themselves so powerful that it changes time. the one common thing amongst all eras of time, regardless of change, is people and their creations.
to me expression is something ive recently realized i must invest into. artists have always been the most impressive people due to this cause. talking quite loudly about what they feel, think, and putting it out there regardless of those who receive it. to have that level of confidence has always been alluring to me, especially in a world where we’re deemed to be ridiculous when speaking outlandishly, or simply put, differently. so as ive started investing in my own voice, i hope to highlight the beauty of others’. this is my love letter to artists and their art.
music specifically has always shaped me, affecting me in every walk of life. as an escape, as a marker of my own life, or as a companion during the complexities and mundanities of it all. im 25 and im not really sure what im doing. but if you put on a song for me from 2006, from 2019, from 2010, ill remember exactly why im here. so here i am. and youre here too.
im currently listening to piano concerto no. 2 in c minor, op. 18: i. moderato. and i just listened to actin crazy by action bronson. give them a listen.
i feel so alive i feel like i might shit myself
